San Diego Trip

For the first few days of my fall break, we went to San Diego. I hadn't been in San Diego for more than an hour since high school and Jason hadn't either. We had a lot of fun doing everything we could for free in the larger vicinity (when you aren't made of money, hey, you have to improvise).

We got there late Sunday afternoon and ate dinner at Beni Hanas (sp?). We totally splurged and called it our anniversary dinner a month early. But we enjoyed it and sat with a nice family that was celebrating a son's birthday. We also walked around the beach and out on the pier.

Monday we drove all over checking out missions. Apparently there are only three within an hour of San Diego. We drove up to San Juan...something (I can't remember the name, it has been almost a month, you know), another really long name one, and the San Diego Mission. The photo on left is from the first mission. It was totally cool! We had to pay to get in, but got to use those really cool museum headsets to learn about all of these things throughout. It was by far my favorite. The second one was the prettiest (I don't think it was anywhere near its "original" state). And San Diego was the smallest, that's the only nice thing I can think to say about it... We also spent some time walking around Balboa Park, checking out scrapbook stores and that night we drove over to Coronado Island too.

Tuesday we took a ferry ride to Coronado, but it was too hot to get off the boat. Heck, it was too hot to be on the boat. We also walked along the water/pier/wharf, whatever they call it. Then we drove up to Torrey Pines and La Jolla and along Highway 1 for a little bit. We stopped and checked out the ocean for a bit. We also spent some time in the temple doing sealings.

Sunday we got up and headed out. All in all, we had a great time, got ourselves plenty of Rite Aid ice cream, enjoyed the reliable guidance of the GPS- we named her Maggie, and spent some time relaxing together. Here are some more pictures of the trip.

Totally sounds like an ideal trip! You both deserve it. Great photos! I've never seen San Diego look so great!
