He's still the boss

So today, Johnny graduated...from breastfeeding support group that is.  Every few months they have a "graduation" for the babies who have, or (in his case) are about to turn one.  Well, I have known about this for over a month. Jason has known about it for almost three weeks (and I never tell him about things that far in advance).

Yesterday, when I was picking out Johnny's clothes for the day I was going to put him in these way cute black and white plaid shorts that he has, but then thought to myself, "No, those would be so adorable to wear to his graduation tomorrow."

So this morning when Jason went to get Johnny dressed I was very explicit, "the purple polo with the black and white plaid shorts." Jason gave me major nonsense about the purple, but I was adamant and he finally just put him in it. And, boy, did he look adorable.  For about the 10 minutes he was in the outfit.

Ten minutes later Johnny spit up.  Uh, he hasn't spit up in a LONG time.  And so, off comes the purple polo.  Then he was in a nice yellow Calvin Klein shirt, but still the adorable black and white plaid shorts.  Those lasted for a few hours.

En route to graduation, he "filled his diaper."  Well, because he was in the car seat, it did not evenly distribute across the diaper.  Instead, it came out one leg....onto the plaid shorts.  (The last time he did that was over winter break and I didn't have any back up clothes, because he hadn't done that since like September!  So because I wasn't prepared over winter break and he ended up in a sweatshirt and a diaper, I had put a hideously lame outfit in his bag yesterday.) So I had to pull out those hideously lame shorts.  Brown with two yellow stripes down the side, stretchy fabric.

He went from GQ baby in a Kenneth Cole purple polo and black and white plaid shorts to a yellow CK shirt with brown sweatshorts.  I was mortified.  He looked like a hobo!

However, it did remind me that it doesn't matter what Mama wants- he's still the boss. And if he doesn't want to wear the purple polo and plaid shorts then he won't be wearing them.
