Christmas Traditions

Since we were gone Thanksgiving weekend, I really felt behind most of December trying to get on top of all of the holiday fun. It took us a few school nights to put up the tree. Jason took about a week to get the lights up and on. Christmas cards never quite found a happy place to hang either. Oh well. I learned a valuable lesson- no more traveling at Thanksgiving! Apparently I need a 4 day weekend to prep for Christmas.

This was our second year with our artificial tree and I love it as much as I did last year. How great are pre-lit trees?!? However, I might have to put a purchasing freeze on ornaments- too many more and we'll need another tree to fit them all!

We did get a trip to the temple Christmas lights with some friends. That was nice and festive. We did our annual trip to Organ Stop with family friends but due to the rain, we didn't get to see the lights. Jason and I went caroling with the YW to an old folks home (I know that's not the PC term, but my mind is blank right now). That was nice and touching to realize how much we have to be young and healthy and with each other.

I had my annual Christmas cookie exchange party and that was great fun too. Lots of cookies and treats and friends.

Jason and I had a great idea to change our facebook pictures to pics of the dogs with a Santa hat on. (Something we tried last year to no success with Toby.) Amazingly, it only took 25 shots to get 2 okay pictures. Toby's final wasn't that great, but considering the other ones, it was pretty decent. Tater's photos were easier, but in her final (see above), she certainly does not look thrilled at all!

When we got married, we decided to try to add an ornament each year that has to do with what happened that year. We also try to add ornaments for the trips we take. Well, the only place we went this year was San Diego. You'd think that'd be an easy ornament, right? Just something beach-y. I have looked everywhere in every ornament display in every store I've been in and have found nothing! So, that's still on the to do list for 2009. Hopefully we'll find something to commemorate the trip.

All in all it was a great holiday season. Nothing too exciting happened, but we had a nice time celebrating and enjoying the time together and with family.
