2010 Goals Update: FINAL

  • Walked 214 miles, 36 remaining
    • Okay, now that I can't exercise at all, the thought of being able to walk those last 36 miles brings tears to my eyes!  So, I decided that goal is frozen through the end of this year.  Once that baby comes, I'm back on that treadmill and will have those 36 miles done in a flash!

  • Read 86 books, 14 remaining
    • In two months I read 20 books.  Yes, I know, that is out of control.  (The Mermaid Chair, Tisha, Ice Cream, The Piano Teacher, Year of Impossible Goodbyes, Red Necklace, The Lonely Polygamist, Husband Habit, The Turn of the Screw, Maze Runner, Queen of Palmyra, Lovely Bones, Don't You Know There's a War On?, Hiroshima, Big Wave, Particular Sadness of Lemon Cake, Last Lecture, Girl in Translation, Decision Points, Black Duck)  They are all blending together and right now all I can handle is a nice calm young adult book.  I think even a romance novel might throw my brain into shock.
    • As a result of that overload in reading in November in December, I am pretty booked out right now. Therefore, for my sanity, I have extended the deadline for this goal to the baby's arrival.  And I still get looks of wonder when I tell my students I read 86 books last year- they can't believe it.

So, essentially, I didn't meet either of my final goals, but I'm pretty sure I met both of my original goals.  I've had to discuss this with myself a lot to let myself know, that's okay.  I worked hard, I tried hard, and due to complete, total and utter extenuating circumstances out of my control, it just didn't work out.  But, no problem, it's all good- I'll beat them both shortly!  What I did accomplish in 2010 is quite worth talking regardless of if it was what I predicted or not!
