Eight week report card

Johnathon is now 8 weeks old!  I can't believe it.  This is a bittersweet milestone (see next post).  Today in the mother's lounge at church I saw a mom with a 9 week baby- uh, I think Johnathon was born bigger than that kid!

Strengths-

Cuddling, sleeping in the truck (every newborn parent should own a diesel truck- we swear by them!)

Growing!  Gosh darn, you'd think if you start at 23 inches, you'd wait a few months before adding any more on!  This is our pack n play changing table.  As you can see, he doesn't have much room to spare with it.

Smiling for Mommy-  Sorry, but I'm still his favorite subject.  Then it's Daddy and way behind us it's strangers (but I think those are just responses to gas)
Sleeping- Okay, we still don't have any sort of a long-enough-for-Mommy-to-get-a-good-stretch-of-sleep length at night, but he does only wake up about two or three times between going to bed between 8 and 10 and waking up around 8.  While I'm still hoping for a longer stretch, I can't deny that his nighttime feedings are pretty easy, taking only about 20 minutes and he goes right back to bed without needing any rocking or anything like that.  We're still working to improve the napping stuff during the day.  He keeps taking a totally late afternoon nap that just stresses me out!  So dad's goal is to fix that while I'm off at work.
Areas for improvement-

  • Naptime in the morning and earlier afternoon naps
  • Diaper blowouts in the carrier and the resulting staining of clothes
  • Church behavior (however, we did make it all the way through sacrament meeting and he slept through primary, so I can't complain)
  • Nail growth! (trimming them still stresses me out, so he just keeps scratching me and him, I need to just get over it!)

Milestones-

  • He now sleeps in his crib in his room. We LOVE that!
  • He made it through sacrament meeting.
  • Curing his heart murmur.
  • Size 2 diapers and shoes!
  • Clothing size 3 mos inching towards 3-6 mos clothes quickly....
