Friends

Over Labor Day weekend, I scrapbooked in a cabin with some friends. One friend had bought papers for a project that we could complete. It was a series of quotes and pages to make a friend mini-book. I finally finished my book today. At the time I had read a quote that made no sense to me, "A true friend fills a place in your heart that you never knew was empty." I truly understand the meaning of that statement today. I testify that when things are going well in your life you can function with a heart that has many empty spots, but the minute adversity kicks in you need those friends who will come from out of nowhere and take care of you like you never knew you needed it before.

As this experience becomes so much more personal and lonely, as people move on and I am at a loss for what to do, I draw great strength from those friends who have emerged at this time. Those friends who are still watching out for me and helping me to hang in there.
